Resume & Background Information
Richard Raap was born and raised on the northwest side of Chicago (two brothers,
two sisters), and has been selling real estate in the community "full-time" for 33 years.
He is a graduate of Lane Tech High School, and received his Bachelors degree from
Southern Illinois University (Carbondale).
Richard has been a full-time RE/MAX Realtor since 1984, and completed advanced
real estate classes and State testing for his Broker license (1990). He furthered
his professional education by completing course work to earn his GRI (Graduate
of Realtors Institute) designation (1994), the CRS (Certified Residential Specialist)
designation (1996), the SRES (Senior Real Estate Specialist) in 2003, the CRPM
(Certified Residential Property Manager) in 2010. He has been recognized as a
"Top 40 Agent" by the Chicago Association of Realtors, and is a member of the
"RE/MAX Hall Of Fame".
Rich married Sue McCarthy (graduate of Foreman High School & Northeastern
Illinois University) in 1976. Their first home was in Jefferson Park (10 years) before
relocating to Park Ridge where they raised their children Elizabeth & Michael.
Sue worked in the hospitality industry as a group sales manager for over 20 years
and recently left the industry to pursue other opportunities.
To date, Richard Raap has handled the sale or rental of over 800 residential
properties (over 70% representing the Seller), and is strongly committed to providing
his clients the best possible service and representation. His deep ties to the community,
